Jongno Bakeries with Kids: Two Family Walks in Anguk and Seochon
Jongno works better with children when the bakery stops support the day rather than take it over. Instead of trying to walk from Anguk to Seochon while collecting every famous pastry, choose one compact route: a hanok-and-museum morning around Anguk, or a neighborhood bakery walk around Seochon.

Quick plan
- Anguk route
- Hanok bakery stop, Seoul Museum of Craft Art break, optional London Bagel only if the wait is short
- Seochon route
- Local takeaway, market or alley break, then one final cafe (Scoff or Tailor)
- Best for
- Families who want bakery stops to support the day, not take it over
- Main limitation
- Queues and unconfirmed stroller access at several cafes; choose one route, not both

Which route should your family choose?
Choose Anguk when the weather is uncertain, the child needs a proper indoor activity, or traditional hanok atmosphere is a priority. Onion, Cafe Layered and London Bagel Museum are close together, but the route works best when you select only one main bakery before the museum.
Choose Seochon when the family prefers a quieter neighborhood walk, a local takeaway bakery and a flexible final cafe. Hyoja Bakery, Tongin Market, Scoff and Tailor Coffee should be treated as options, not four mandatory stops.
Do not plan both routes for the same day with a baby or toddler unless the bakery visits are extremely short.
Route A: Anguk and Bukchon
The Anguk route is the stronger rainy-day option because it can include the Seoul Museum of Craft Art.
Start at Anguk Station
Arrive ready for one bakery stop before the museum.
Choose Onion or Cafe Layered
Pick one main bakery. Do not treat both as required stops.
Seoul Museum of Craft Art family break
Use the museum as the child-centered part of the route. Reserve the Children’s Museum separately when needed.

Check the current wait after the museum. Skip it when the queue would replace rest time.
Stop 1A: Onion Anguk — hanok atmosphere
Onion Anguk occupies a preserved 1920s hanok with a courtyard, traditional wooden rooms and modern bakery displays. It is the most visually distinctive stop in this guide, but the architecture that makes it memorable can also make it less straightforward with a stroller.
Choose Onion as the main bakery stop, not as the first of three similar cafes. An early visit is usually more realistic than arriving during the busiest late-morning or weekend period.

Stop 1B: Cafe Layered — the simpler station-side alternative
Cafe Layered is very close to Anguk Station and is known for a large display of scones and cakes. It can be a more direct first stop when the family does not need the full hanok-cafe experience.
Choose Onion or Layered, not both by default. The child’s museum or neighborhood time should remain the center of the route.

Family break: Seoul Museum of Craft Art
The Seoul Museum of Craft Art is the most useful family break in the Anguk route. General museum admission is free, and the complex offers a calmer indoor change of pace after a busy cafe.
The Children’s Museum is also free, but advance online reservation is required. Children age 9 or younger must attend with an adult, and the activities are mainly designed for ages 5–9. Do not build the route around the Children’s Museum unless the reservation is already confirmed.
When a reservation is unavailable, the main museum can still work as a short cultural stop, but parents should choose the visit length according to the child’s interest.
Optional stop: London Bagel Museum Anguk
London Bagel Museum is one of the area’s best-known bakery destinations, but it is the least reliable part of a family itinerary. VisitKorea lists the shop from 08:00 to 18:00, and Catchtable supports the venue’s waiting process.
Check the current wait before walking over. If the number is high, finish the Anguk route without it. The route is complete with one main bakery and the museum.

Route B: Seochon
The Seochon route is slower and more local, with takeaway bread, a market or alley break, and one final cafe chosen according to the family’s energy.
Start at Gyeongbokgung Station
Begin with a short neighborhood takeaway stop.
Hyoja Bakery takeaway
Buy only what the family can comfortably carry.
Tongin Market or a short Seochon alley break
Keep the market optional. Prefer a quieter alley if the child dislikes crowds.
Choose Scoff or Tailor Coffee
One final cafe only — pick by stairs, stroller needs and remaining energy.
Stop 1: Hyoja Bakery — local takeaway
Hyoja Bakery is a long-running neighborhood bakery associated with Seochon. It is more useful in this route as a quick local purchase than as a place to settle in with a stroller.
Buy only what the family can comfortably carry. The next part of the route should give the child time away from shops.

Neighborhood break: Tongin Market or Seochon alleys
Tongin Market can add a short traditional-market experience to the route, but it should remain optional. Market hours vary by store, and the passages can become crowded.
Families with a sleeping baby or a child who dislikes crowds may prefer a quieter Seochon alley walk instead. Do not plan the market’s lunchbox program without checking its current operating schedule.
Final option 1: Scoff Seochon — scones with stairs
Scoff is known for British-style scones, brownies and cakes. The official Seoul tourism profile describes purchasing on the first floor and seating on the second floor.
Choose Scoff when the child can manage the transition upstairs or when one adult can handle the stroller. Otherwise, use takeaway or choose Tailor Coffee.

- Best for
- A final pastry stop when stairs are manageable

Final option 2: Tailor Coffee — seated fallback
Tailor Coffee Seochon Gyeongbokgung works as the route’s seated alternative. Visit Seoul lists it as a larger cafe near the palace stone-wall area.
Choose Scoff or Tailor, not both by default. The correct finish is the one that fits the stroller, nap schedule and child’s remaining energy.

Practical tips for parents
Start earlier on weekends. Onion, Cafe Layered and London Bagel Museum are popular. An earlier bakery stop gives the route more flexibility and reduces the risk that the child’s museum or outdoor break is replaced by waiting.
Keep one stop expendable. Each route includes an optional venue. Remove it immediately when the child is tired, the stroller is awkward or the queue is longer than expected.
Treat traditional spaces carefully. Hanok cafes can include raised thresholds, floor seating and areas where shoes are removed. A beautiful space is not automatically easy with a stroller.
Reserve the Children’s Museum before the outing. The Seoul Museum of Craft Art’s Children’s Museum requires advance online reservation. The main museum and the Children’s Museum are not interchangeable planning promises.
Use takeaway strategically. Hyoja Bakery and a short London Bagel pickup are easier to manage when they stay brief. Carrying too many drinks, trays or bread boxes can make the rest of the route harder.
Recheck same-day information. Operating hours, sold-out times, waiting systems and market programs can change. Use the official venue links and map listings on the day of the visit.

FAQ
- Can families complete both the Anguk and Seochon routes in one day?
- They can, but it is not the recommended plan with babies or toddlers. Each route is designed as a separate three-hour outing with one meaningful child break.
- Which route is better on a rainy day?
- Anguk is usually the better choice because it can include the Seoul Museum of Craft Art. Reserve the Children’s Museum separately when that specific area is important.
- Is Onion Anguk easy with a stroller?
- The venue is a traditional hanok, so floor seating, thresholds and crowds may be awkward. Step-free access and stroller storage are not confirmed.
- Should London Bagel Museum be booked into the schedule?
- No. Treat it as an optional stop after checking the current wait. The Anguk route should work without it.
- Which Seochon stop is best for takeaway?
- Hyoja Bakery is the clearest local takeaway stop in this route. Seating and baby facilities should not be assumed.
- Which final Seochon cafe is more practical?
- Scoff offers upstairs seating but may be difficult with a stroller. Tailor Coffee is the better fallback when a larger seated cafe matters more, although step-free access and baby-chair details remain unconfirmed.
- Are the operating hours guaranteed?
- No. The article records the latest official information checked on July 11, 2026, but bakery hours, sold-out times, waiting systems and market programs can change.
