Incheon Airport to Seoul with a Baby: AREX, Airport Bus or Taxi?

Getting from Incheon Airport to Seoul with a baby is manageable. The awkward part often comes at the end: finding an elevator, carrying bags through a station, or discovering that a bus stop with the right district name is still a difficult walk from the hotel.

Our quick advice: Choose the route with the easiest final 500 metres—not simply the shortest advertised journey time.

Last checked: July 15, 2026

The quick choice

AREX train

Start with AREX when your hotel is close to Hongik University, Gongdeok or Seoul Station, and you can manage the stroller and luggage inside a station.

The catch: The stroller-friendly elevator route may be longer than the route shown by a map app.

Airport limousine bus

The bus can be the easiest option when its stop is genuinely close to the hotel and you would rather place large bags in the luggage compartment than carry them through a station.

The catch: Traffic and the walk after you get off can erase that advantage. Check the exact stop, not only the district name.

Taxi or pre-booked van

Usually the simplest door-to-door option with a newborn, a large stroller, several suitcases or a late-night arrival.

The catch: Do not assume an ordinary taxi includes a child seat. Arrange and confirm the correct seat in advance when it is essential.

Check the hotel entrance before buying a ticket

The neighbourhood name is not enough. Open the exact hotel entrance on a map and check:

  1. whether you are arriving at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2
  2. the distance from the station or bus stop to the entrance
  3. hills, large junctions, stairs or an extra subway transfer on the final route
  4. how many bags remain after the stroller is folded
  5. the time you are likely to reach the public arrival hall—not the scheduled landing time

That final point matters at night. Immigration, baggage collection, stroller collection and a feed or diaper change can move your actual departure time much later.

Before leaving the terminal

Feed or change the baby

Incheon Airport lists infant rest areas with nursing space, diaper-changing stations, a sink, bottle sterilizer, water dispenser, weighing scale and hand sanitizer. Public-area rooms are available in the arrival areas of both terminals.

Borrow an airport stroller when needed

Free strollers are available at airport information desks. They are for use inside the airport; they are not a stroller rental for the journey into Seoul.

Express Train

Official fare checked July 2026Use live timetable

The Express Train runs nonstop from the airport terminals to Seoul Station. AREX currently lists about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 minutes from Terminal 2, adult fare KRW 13,000, and child fare ages 6–12 KRW 9,500, with reserved seating. Ticket desks at both terminals are in the B1 Transportation Center.

It does not stop at Hongik University or Gongdeok, so it is not automatically best for Hongdae.

All-stop train

The all-stop train serves Hongik University, Gongdeok and Seoul Station. It costs less but feels more like a commuter train, with subway-style seating and no reserved seat.

  • Terminal 1 to Hongik University: KRW 4,650
  • Terminal 2 to Hongik University: KRW 5,250
  • Terminal 1 to Seoul Station: KRW 4,750
  • Terminal 2 to Seoul Station: KRW 5,350

Adult transport-card fares checked July 2026. A single-use ticket costs KRW 100 more and requires a refundable KRW 500 deposit.

What the train time does not show

A stroller route can involve separate elevators between the platform, concourse, ticket gate and street. The closest numbered exit is not always the easiest stroller exit. Use the official AREX timetable on the day rather than a screenshot.

Airport limousine bus

The bus works best when the drop-off point is genuinely close to the hotel entrance. Useful current examples include 6002 (Hapjeong, Hongik University, Jongno, Dongdaemun, Cheongnyangni), 6015 (Mapo, Gongdeok, Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong) and 6001 (Sinyongsan, Seoul Station, Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong, Dongdaemun). Do not confuse regular 6002 with N6002 night service.

Fare and ticketing

Official fare checked July 2026

Airport Limousine currently lists many main Seoul routes at KRW 17,000 for adults and KRW 12,000 for children aged 6–12. One child under age 6 may ride free with a ticketed adult when the child does not use a separate seat.

At Terminal 2, advance ticket purchase has been required for Airport Limousine services since March 5, 2026, including routes 6001, 6002 and 6015. This notice is specific to Airport Limousine; do not assume every bus operator at the airport follows the same rule.

Bags and stroller

Stroller baggage treatment unclear

The published free allowance is up to two bags per ticket, each no more than 20 kg and under 160 cm combined dimensions. The rules do not clearly explain how every folded stroller is counted. Be prepared to fold the stroller, and show bulky items to ticket-desk staff before boarding.

Taxi, International Taxi or pre-booked van

Child seat not guaranteed

Incheon Airport has official pickup zones for standard taxis, deluxe or jumbo taxis, International Taxis and pre-booked taxis. A standard taxi uses the meter; tolls or surcharges may be added. No fixed metered total is published here.

International Taxi

Seoul’s officially designated International Taxi service offers foreign-language support and flat airport-to-Seoul fares by zone: standard KRW 70,000–95,000; deluxe or large KRW 100,000–140,000. Book at least 24 hours ahead.

Do not leave the child-seat question vague

Official airport taxi information does not promise that an ordinary taxi includes a child seat. When a seat is required, confirm age/weight, facing direction, install-before-pickup, extra charge, vehicle capacity and delay handling in writing.

A sensible starting point by area

These are starting points, not fixed rules. The hotel entrance should make the final decision.

Hongdae

Compare the AREX all-stop train first when the hotel is an easy walk from Hongik University Station. Bus 6002 may be better when its stop is closer than the station’s elevator route.

Seoul Station

The AREX Express is appealing for a hotel near the station or a short onward taxi ride. The all-stop train is cheaper but has commuter-style seating.

Myeongdong

Compare the 6015 or 6001 stop with the hotel entrance. Myeongdong includes hills and several hotel clusters, so a stop named Myeongdong can still leave an awkward walk.

Jongno and Dongdaemun

Check routes such as 6002 or 6001 against the exact address. A direct bus can avoid a rail transfer, but traffic and multiple stops affect the journey.

Gangnam, COEX and Jamsil

AREX normally requires another connection. Compare the current airport-bus route with a taxi or confirmed van, particularly at night or with heavy luggage.

Arriving late at night

Do not decide from the scheduled landing time. Work from the likely time you will reach the public arrival hall after immigration, baggage, stroller collection and baby care.

Check the official late-night bus pages for your terminal after landing. When the remaining connection is tight or unclear, use the official taxi rank or a confirmed pickup.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take a stroller on AREX?

Yes. Allow extra time for elevators and the final walk. The route through a station can matter more than the train ride itself.

Is the airport bus free for a baby?

Airport Limousine’s terms say one child under age 6 may ride free with a ticketed adult when no separate seat is used. A separate seat requires the child fare.

What is simplest with three suitcases and a stroller?

A large taxi or confirmed van is often simplest when its capacity is verified. A bus can also work when the baggage allowance covers your items and the hotel is close to the stop.

What should we do after midnight?

Check the airport’s current late-night transport page for your terminal and destination. When the timing is uncertain, use the official taxi rank or a confirmed pickup.

How this guide was checked

BabyMap Korea reviewed the official pages of Incheon Airport, AREX, Airport Limousine and Seoul International Taxi. Fares and service details were checked on July 15, 2026. We deliberately do not reproduce live departure times because they can change.

This page is practical travel guidance, not a guarantee of live availability, a particular child seat or acceptance of every stroller and luggage combination.

Still unverified

  • We could not confirm a dedicated luggage area from the current official AREX page.
  • ordinary airport or International Taxi child-seat inclusion
  • how every folded stroller is counted under bus baggage rules
  • fixed last-train or last-bus times on the reader’s travel day
  • a fixed standard metered-taxi total
